Order of teaching digraphs
WitrynaThe most common digraphs are, sh, ch, the, pg, ng, and wh. A diphthong is a combination of two vowels that make a single sound. E.g., oo, oi au, ui. Consonant blends are two or three consonants that are pronounced in their own phonetic sound. When consonant blends are pronounced, each sound is blurred for smooth speech. WitrynaAfter teaching the digraph, use letter cards to model blending /sh/ with other sounds to make words. Point to the letters as you blend the sounds. When counting the number of sounds in a word, a digraph counts as only one sound. Repeat the sequence with other words, gradually reducing your modeling to give students greater independence.
