WebNov 26, 2009 · Actually, most 2-speed rear axles are geared pretty deep. I have a 2 speed on my 1954 F800. It has a 6 series high gear and an 8 series low gear. My 1947 Ford 3 Ton truck has a 2 speed differential that uses a vacuum actuator to shift from high to low. The vacuum unit leaks and won't shift the differential. I have been looking for a replacement but all the old ones have the same problems, rusted out or crushed.
